May 9th, 11th and 13th

Liverpool Arena, Liverpool, United Kingdom

Eurovision was the biggest televised musical event happening in the world, and the UK hosted it on behalf of Ukraine, who won it in 2022. Eurovision took place in the Liverpool arena in the 2nd week of May.

ThankEuForTheMusic had purchased 75,000 flags for this event, and our aim was to distribute as many of these flags as possible during Eurovision week, which ran from the 9th to the 13th of May. Any leftover flags were put to good use by handing them out at other events, including the last night of the proms. Our flags were a message of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, who had applied for membership of the EU. Wouldn’t it have been fantastic for the UK to rejoin the EU at the same time that Ukraine joined? We were giving a positive and supportive message to all the singers and performers and to the many thousands who attended this musical spectacular.
